David Lackey

David Lackey, age 66, after a long battle with cancer, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He faithfully attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he enjoyed playing music for the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Grooms and Early Junior Lackey; sister-in-law, Martha Jenkins; mother-in-law, Mary Wiley; and grandparents, Bessie and Hugh Fox.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Teresa Lackey; his sons, Jonathan Lackey (Tiffany) and Matthew Lackey (Tiffany); siblings, Wade Grooms (Sharon), Joe Lackey, Carolynn Grooms, Barbara Black; in-laws, Barbara Pennland (Joe), George Adams (Judy), Ronnie Adams (Deborah); grandchildren, Kora, Jude, Kameron, Carter and Clay; and other loved family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church; 1276 Cosby Cutoff Rd. Newport, Tn. On Tuesday April 23, 2024. Receiving of friends at 5pm with the service starting at 6pm.
