Herbert Lee Thacker

Herbert Lee Thacker, age 75, of Newport, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019. 

He was retired from the U.S. Airforce after 25 years of service, and the U.S. Post Office of Newport after 13 years of service.

He was a member of Cave Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. V. and Ethel Thacker.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-five years, Sandra Thacker; daughter, Christel Elsea; sons, Christopher Thacker, Chad Thacker; daughter, Teshia Thornton; grandchildren, Taylor Thornton, Joshua Elsea, Noah Elsea, Kynlee Thacker, Kipton Thacker, Kristopher Thacker, Karsynn Thacker; great-grandbaby, Brexley Thornton; brothers, James Thacker, Denver Thacker; sister, Grace Van Nostrand.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2019 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel with funeral at 2:00 p.m., internment to follow. Military Honors will be provided by Morristown VFW Post 5266. Funeral arrangements provided by Resthaven Memorial Gardens
