Ruth Ramsey

Ruth Ramsey, 74, a professional community barber of Newport, TN, passed away on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 at her home. Her services will be held at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Dandridge, TN on Saturday, November 16th, receiving friends at 9 a.m., the funeral service at 10 a.m. with the entombment immediately following.

She was born October 8th, 1945 to the late Lawrence and Delia Ramsey. She is preceded in death by all of her siblings: Marsha Thurman, Marie Taylor, Lois Ogle, and Debbie Thomas, by her daughter Vivian Shults and by her grandson A.J. Seaton. She is survived by her daughter Vicky Shults Seaton (Tank) of Sevierville, her son Charles (Charlie) Shults of Newport, her grandchildren Mandy Taylor Robyck (Bret), Audrey Ramsey Edinger (James), Jebdekiah Shults, Jamus Shults and her great-grandchildren Katryna Ramsey, Mason Hopkins, Vanessa Hopkins, Valaya Edinger, Stella Robyck and by her closest friends, Karen Hall (Kyle and Jessica), Shirley Dockery, Freda Green and Ruble Buckner.

Ruth loved cutting hair and had a special relationship with all of her customers, who were like family. She loved John Wayne, driving below the speed limit –even when it wasn’t safe to do so – going for rides in the mountains and having breakfast at Jabo’s Pharmacy. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the Stokely Memorial Library in Newport.
