With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Albert McDougall, age 89, on Friday, March 10, 2023. A former resident of Parsippany and Dover, Albert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting as well as the NASCAR Cup series and his many trips to casinos, in Atlantic City, New Orleans, North Carolina and Laughlin, Nevada. He also loved to watch the Giants.
Albert worked as a refractory installation specialist with his father’s company, James McDougall & Sons, but his passion was his career as a police officer in both Mount Tabor and as a special police officer in Parsippany. It was in this capacity that Albert received several letters of commendation from both the Parsippany Public Library Board of Trustees and the Mayor of Parsippany. When he retired from the police department after more than 30 years, he continued to work as a security guard for the Parsippany-Troy Hills Public Library System, finally retiring in 2004. He then moved to Tennessee with his wife, Janis, where he learned to love landscaping and his machines — his truck, tractor, mower, and ATV which he used to enjoy deer, turkey and hog hunting.
While his passing brings us great sadness, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents, James and Eleanor, his brothers James and Edward, and his nephews John McDougall and Michael Hamill. We know he will be greeted by his favorite rescue, Rocky. His memory will live on through those he left behind, especially his wife, Janis, his brother Kenneth (Laurie), his sister Joan, his son David (Susan), many nieces and nephews and his Tennessee friends and neighbors. Lastly, the one who will especially miss laying with him and keeping him warm is his best girl, Daisy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel.
