Donald Manning Obituary

Donald Edward “Donnie” Manning

Born May 22, 1963 – Passed September 20, 2025

Donald Edward Manning, known to most as “Donnie,” passed away on September 20, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Manning; his brother, Alvin Manning; and grandparents, Dexter and Louella Manning and Frank and Edna Sprouse, all of Newport, TN.

Donnie grew up in Richland Park Subdivision, spending countless days at the city park where he formed childhood friendships that lasted his lifetime. A special friend, Lauren Eubanks, was always by his side, faithful to the end—thank you, Lauren.

He graduated from Cocke County High School and began working at Morristown Dental Lab. There, Jerry Forner became a mentor and friend, teaching Donnie a craft and career while also serving as a powerful example of Christ’s love, mercy, and grace. Donnie loved fishing, hiking the mountains, and floating the river with his friend, Ed Hardison. Above all, he loved Aunt Bea’s apple pies. He never met a stranger, made friends wherever he went, and was especially loved by children—who were drawn to his fun-loving spirit.

He was thoughtful in the little ways, like bringing home pinecones from his travels for a cousin who collected them. He was at home wherever he went—often dropping in unexpectedly, like the early morning calls to Randy while driving through South Carolina: “Got coffee? I’m almost at your house!”

Donnie is survived by his siblings: Adrian and Samara Manning of Knoxville, Jeff Manning of Newport, Cathy Manning of Georgia, and Karen and Mitch Woodson of Newport; nieces and nephews: Heather and Wes Easterwood, Justin Manning and Sarina of Georgia, Erik and Cheyenne Manning of Knoxville, and Jameela Manning of Knoxville; as well as uncles, Johnny Manning, Tommy Manning; aunts, Ina Manning, Libby Burgess, and Bernice Manning, also many cousins, and countless friends.

Donnie was cremated per his wishes, and a family gathering will be scheduled at a later date.

He will forever be remembered as fun, mischievous, and full of life. He lives on in the he hearts and memories of all who loved him—until we meet again.
