Elizabeth A. Hochfelder

Elizabeth A Hochfelder, known to family and friends as Betty, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Tennessee. Betty resided in Carteret and Woodbridge, New Jersey for more than 60 years before moving to Dandridge, TN in 2018 to live with her daughter. Betty was a parishioner of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Newport, TN and served as a lector at Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, NJ.  She also attended St. James Church in Woodbridge, NJ where she was a lector at weekday Masses.

Betty had a long career as Executive Secretary for the Vice-President of Public Affairs at Supermarkets General Corporation in Woodbridge. She also worked at Sinclair Koppers, Port Reading.  She was very active in the Carteret Business and Professional Women’s Club and loved to travel with the friends she made there.

Betty was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Lynch in 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Janis McDougall of Dandridge, TN; her daughter-in-law, Ethel Lynch of Carteret, NJ; her grandchildren, Kelly Viands (Paul), Kathleen Lynch and Kevin Lynch; her great grandchildren, Genevieve Viands and Abigail Viands as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty will be sadly missed by family and friends, and her caregivers at Jefferson County Nursing Home.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 5, 2023, with a Funeral Mass followed by entombment on Monday, November 6, 2023 in New Jersey.
