Jewell Dean (Duckett) Byrd

Jewell Dean (Duckett) Byrd, age 77, of Newport, passed away on March 26, 2026. She was born on February 5, 1949.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chan and Ada Duckett; her sisters, Victoria Black, Gertrude McGaha, and Artie Cagle; and her brother, Joe Duckett.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold Byrd; her son, Jonathan “Greg” Byrd and his wife, Joey Lynn Byrd; her granddaughter, Aubrey Jo Byrd, who was very special to her; and her special niece, Bettie Sweeten.

Jewell worked at Enka/BASF for 25 years before retiring.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
