Johnny Darrell Samples

Johnny Darrell Samples, (64) of Newport, TN. passed away on March 8, 2024. Johnny was a proud Native American enrolled member of the “Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians”. Johnny was of the Baptist faith. He worked 24 years as a trade show decorator.

Johnny is preceded in death by his mother, Georgie Ann Briscoe Samples; brothers, Dennis and Ronnie(Boney) Samples; grandparents, Jim(Elsie) Briscoe, James “Babe” (Amanda)Samples; father and mother in law, Ray (Elizabeth “Tessie”) Cutshaw; sisters in law, Deborah Large and Sandra Worth; step mother, Geraldine Ogle Samples.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, whom he cherished deeply, Vickie Sue Cutshaw Samples and Vickie will love Johnny always with her whole heart and soul. Father, Eulis”Sam” Samples; brother, Lonnie “Fatso” Samples; children, Jonathan(Destiny) Samples, Miranda Bullard, Travis(Angel), Greg (Diana), Misti (Jesse) Caughron; grandchildren,  Autumn (D), Kaleb, Dakota, Khloe, Leighla, Brody and Kyelan Caughron, Kimberlyn Gentry, Jaelyn Wolf, and special grandson, Braedyn Phillips; great grandchildren Draedyn and Jaxston Gentry, Envy Lynn Faith Riland; sisters, and brothers in law, Cathy Beaver, Rita Borello, Donnell Bruce and Daniel Estrada; special cousin and uncle Martha (Cha) Williams Foster, Tommy Briscoe of Dallas, Tx; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers and tribal members.

Johnny was a funny, hardworking, God fearing, honest man. He loved his wife very deeply. Johnny will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. As Johnny would say “Never Say Goodbye” Chi Pisa La Chike (until we meet again). A visitation is scheduled from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.  Funeral service will begin 2:00pm with Rev. Billy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
