Kenneth Carl Red Rathbone

Kenneth Carl Rathbone (Red Rathbone), 61, of Newport, passed away suddenly on April 22, 2023. He loved being outdoors, in the mountains, riding motorcycles and going to Waterville. Kenneth loved his family dearly. He also enjoyed participating in a good game of cat and mouse with the local police.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jo Black; father, Walter Dan Rathbone; brother, Dustin Kent Smith of Newport; brother, Nick Rathbone of Detroit, MI; paternal grandparents, Walter Davis and Cecila Williams; maternal grandparents, Dillard and Elizabeth Black; niece, Carrie Nicole Smith Sanderlin, several uncles and aunts; special cousin, Thomas Black; and special friend, Michael Davis.

Kenneth is survived by daughters, Andrea and Verdie Rathbone; son, Travis Wilkins; brothers, Mikey, Walley and Rickey Rathbone; sister, Rosetta Rosinski and Monique Rathbone; stepmother, Bertha “Ma” Rathbone; wife, Imogene Williams Rathbone; grandchildren, Taylor LeeAnn Rathbone, Joshua Thomas Shehee Rathbone, Brittany Leshea Rathbone, Tiffany Leshea Evans and Matthew John Patrick Rathbone; great-grandchildren, Tinsley Douglas, Trinity Evans, Miley Gunter, Kolton, Paxley and Tyleigh Rathbone; cousin, Cathy Black Gunter; and aunt, Ruby Black Huska. 

The family of Red Rathbone will be holding a visitation for friends and family on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Resthaven Funeral Home to cover funeral expenses.
