Pamela Sanders Obituary

Pamela Jo Rumler Sanders was born to William and Fern Rumler, November 5, 1949, in Tampa, Florida.  She attended Hillsborough High School and then began a paralegal career.  As her legal knowledge increased, she began providing pro bono legal support through the Bay Area Volunteer Lawyers Program. She was also recognized for her work with the Hillsborough County Adult High School Occupational Specialties Program.  She also worked as a paralegal for the FDIC during the Enron Investigation. Her final call was with her husband as missionaries in Jerusalem.

Pamela was a scholar, a published author, a song writer, and a pharmacy technician.  She was devoted to her faith, always seeking Yahweh in everything. She took to heart Yahweh’s admonition to care for “the least of these.” She taught herself how to read and speak Hebrew and spent countless hours doing research. She loved her children fiercely. She was a strong and faithful prayer warrior. She had many hobbies including painting, crafting, crocheting, and sewing.  She was a book editor, a member of Mensa and could complete any and all crosswords.  She was a voracious reader, had a quick wit and was absolutely brilliant.

She and her husband Charles served as missionaries in Israel from 2003 until 2008. Their lives were enriched and transformed there. They worked at the Hazon Yeshaya Soup Kitchen in Jerusalem where they met a young woman named Shaine.  They helped Shaine receive a college education, and the love of a family she had not experienced as a child.  She contributed many articles to the Jerusalem Post both during and after their time in Israel. Her song, “There Is A Name” was played over the Israeli airwaves. In 2016 she made her final pilgrimage to Israel, she was a brave and adventurous widow still working to serve Yeshua.

Pam and her husband lived for many years in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  There they housed many people experiencing homelessness, including a young girl named Bridgette.  They were Bridgette’s legal guardians until she found her forever family.

Pamela was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles F. Sanders, parents, William Rumler and Gail Rumler (Mabrey), her brother William (Billy) Rumler, and her sister Jacqueline Rumler.  She is survived by her sister, Debra (James) Jimenez, her six children, Daniel, Jack, Jane, Shanie, Chuck, and Mark and grandchildren Timothy, Tash, Nicole, Tim and Michael, along with Shaine’s six children.  She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.  Just days before her passing, Timothy shared the news that he and Taylor are expecting her newest great grand baby.  This brought her great joy.

She took her last breath holding the hand of her son, Daniel.  He loved and cared for her tenderly.  We will forever miss her but rejoice that she is where she has longed to be – at peace with her God.

Pamela will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Charles, February 16, 2024, in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. 2200 E Gov. John Sevier Hwy 168, Knoxville, TN 37920 (Section L, Grave 1527).
