“Fair Winds and Following Seas”
Ronald W. Mebust, aged 80, of Dandridge, Tennessee, passed away on January 30, 2026. From the age of five to fifteen, Ronald was raised on the Hoopa Reservation, an experience that shaped much of his early life. He was a proud military veteran, dedicating thirty years of service to the United States Navy. Ronald achieved the rank of Master Chief Master Diver and served with distinction in the Experimental Dive Unit. After his military retirement, he embarked on a new career, spending seventeen years as a Big Rig truck driver.
Ronald enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities, including spending time with his family, restoring cars, riding motorcycles, and pursuing woodworking and leatherwork. His love for travel took him from sea to sea, reflecting his adventurous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Hankins, his mother Lois Niemants, and his stepfather Nils Mebust. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sherry Mebust; his children Kimberly Nadine Aiken (Melvin Jr.), Danna Dunn (Jason), Marina Bowman, and Patrick Mebust. He was a cherished grandfather to Bryan Mullins (Rachael); Kassidy Davis, Jacqueline M. Olson; Heaven Stinnett (Trey); Tucker Stinnett and Maranda Stinnett; Eric L. Shipp (Kayla); Christian K. Wilson (Samantha); and Quenton D. Owens. As well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum, with Military Honors.
