Rudene Lewis Swaggerty

Rudene Lewis Swaggerty age 81 departed this life on February 24, 2025 and went to live in the arms of his heavenly Father. Born August 9, 1943 to the late Elizabeth Lousie Davidson and the late Luke Thomas. Rudene graduated from Tanner High School. His hobbies included playing basketball and coaching football in the community in his early years and mowing the lawn at his church. He was employed over 35 years at Enka/BASF in Morristown, Tn. After retiring he took a job with Newport Sanitation Department. Rudene loved his New Zion A.M.E. Church, where as a member he served on the Usher Board and sang in the men’s choir.

Rudene is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Faye Swagerty, his parents, Louise Davidson, and Luke Thomas; mother-in-law Maye Brown; half siblings, Penny, and Theresa Thomas; brother-in-law Carl Brown. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, half-sisters, Anne Trice, half-brother, Billy Pruitt; daughters, Deana (Sherman) Holmes of Knoxville, Tn. Jerrilynn (Paulito) Gonzalez and Kimberlyn Swagerty all of Newport, Tn; son Anothony (Jeffery) Swaggerty of Huntsville, Al.; step children, Michael Paul (Toni) Evans Jr. of Newport, Tn. and

Dewayne (Kelly) Evans of Morristown, Tn.; grandchildren, Sheena (Carlos) Hurst, Jerrod Reece Swagerty, Chyna Swagerty, Justin Dockery, Jeremy Dockery, Aaliyah, and Raquel Holmes, Kimbel Thornton and Jasmine Cannon; special cousins Lynnette Tempest and Wallace Swagerty. He leaves behind to mourn a host of great grandchildren, cousins and several sisters and brother in laws. The family would like to Thank the Nurses, CNA’s and Rehabilitation departments at the Heritage Center, Morristown, TN. and The Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care Agency.

Visitation is from 12:00pm to 2:00 with funeral service beginning at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
