Steven W Foster, age 64, passed away on October 14, 2024, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, after a brief illness. He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on June 1, 1960; to the late Sherman Foster and Maria Klemptner Foster.
Steve grew up in Meadowview, Virginia graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1978. He then graduated from Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia, with an associate’s degree in applied science with a major in Business Management, in 1987. He also attended Tusculum College graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Organizational Management in 1990.
Steve was employed with the United States Postal Service for 35+ years. He finished his career as Manager of Maintenance Operations, PDNC in Knoxville, TN. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed working on and rebuilding John Deere machines. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister Doris Foster. Steve is survived by his children; Lauren Foster McCroskey, husband Phillip of Mendota, VA; Ashley Foster of Abingdon, VA; and Garrett Foster of Jefferson City, TN. His grandchildren Whitley and Alyssa Kopp, Clayton McCroskey and Virginia Betts.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and staff on the Heart Wing (5th Floor) at UT Medical Center, Knoxville TN. The diligence and care during his lengthy stay during his Leukemia Treatment and Stem Cell Transplant; as well as their kindness and compassionate care for Steve will never be forgotten.
Per Steve’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in memory of Steve Foster, to the UT Medical Cancer Center.
