Susan Senter Maxson, age 78, of Corryton, died on Sunday, May 28th. Born on September 19, 1944 to Amelia and Jim Senter, Susan was a Morristown girl through and through. She was raised by the close-knit Taylor family with Sunday picnics beneath the tall trees off Morningside Drive. She attended Hillcrest Elementary, Morristown Middle and Morristown High School where she played flute in the marching band. She later received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Emory & Henry College, and it was there in calculus class that she first met her future husband, Bill Maxson. Over 56 years of marriage, Bill and Susan lived in several different locations before returning to Morristown. They remained in Morristown for the next 24 years before moving to Corryton, Tennessee as her health began to decline. Along the way she also taught math to dozens of children. Of all achievements in her life, she was most proud of her two children whom she loved beyond measure; Ida Young and Will Maxson. She had a kind heart and she always marched to her own tune.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia & Jim Senter, brother Jim Senter, and sister Carolyn Klepper. She is survived by her husband, Bill Maxson, daughter Ida Young and her husband Andy, son Will Maxson and his wife Anna, eight grandchildren (Katherine, Ellie, Amelia, Ethan, Elijah, Tigist, Emma & Teddy), brother-in-law Jim Klepper, sister-in-law Kay Senter, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
